Like I mentioned in my last post, I’m taking on a project based overseas and am in the process of tying up things in the US for my move to Malaysia. While I’m super excited about this new adventure, I won’t lie, it’s not easy letting go of a lot of the things currently in my life.

Goodbye, things.

This past week, I packed up everything in my Miami apartment to drive up to where my folks live and leave it at my moms (thanks mama!). I also had my things that have been sitting in storage for the past 2 years in Los Angeles delivered there as well. At least now I have all my things in one place. :)

While packing up my apartment, I had to make a lot of decisions about what I would take to Asia and what I would leave at my mom’s. Of course I can’t take all my clothes and things with me so I figured better than leave them in storage where they won’t be used, give them to family and friends who can use them. Sooo, goodbye things.

This week, I also finalized the lease transfer of my BMW. I left the keys with a friend in Miami yesterday who handed them over to a person I’ve never met. Goodbye car.

Goodbye, car.

As for my apartment, it’s probably been my favorite so far. Living on the water was definitely the highlight of living in Miami, which became a city I grew to love despite not being crazy about it at first. Now that I’m leaving, my landlord is moving into it. She’s slowly bringing things in and I’m slowly seeing it transform into a place that is no longer mine. Goodbye apartment.

Goodbye, apartment with view.

I had dinner with a friend the other night who’s a psychiatrist and we were talking about how attached people get to things and how they let them become their identity. This in turn sparked the idea that the process I’m going through now is like an experiment in non-attachment. The funny thing is that I’ve done this before, but it’s still not easy.

Change is a bittersweet thing. Saying goodbye to people or things isn’t easy but it makes room in your life for other things to come in. Things that often end of being better for you.

So many times, we’re overcome with fear of the new and unknown. It’s far easier to stay in our comfort zone. But then, you have the “what if” question that will nip at your heels for life… A car, an apartment, clothes and things can always be replaced. But the experience of giving it all up to pursue a dream, leaping into the unknown and gambling on the chance that what you can gain is far beyond what you can lose is not an opportunity that comes around often.

And so, with that, I’m almost ready to take off on this new adventure.  Hello new chapter.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. – Mark Twain

BIG NEWS!! A few weeks ago, I came across a video for “The World’s Most Awesome Job.” Now, I’ve had my own business for the past year working as a PR and social media consultant, but when I saw this it, I just knew I had to give it a shot. Here’s the vid:

Now it just so happened that a friend of mine who’s an editor/producer/director had just gotten an assignment in Miami and was awesome enough to help me out with my submission video. Soooo we spent a day shooting it and I sent it off. The next morning, I had an email saying they had really liked my video and wanted to set up some interviews with a few people at the company, including Mind Valley’s founder and owner.

After a few conversations, they made me an offer and I’ve officially accepted the role of Events Director for Mind Valley, aka The World’s Most Awesome Job! AND…. it’s based in Malaysia! I’ll be moving to Kuala Lumpur in just a few weeks. This is incredibly exciting but also a bit insane.

I’m giving up an apartment on the water that I love, my nice car, a city that I’ve come to love and wrapping up things with a few clients of mine in order to be able to focus on this project. Not to mention moving away from my family who leaves here in Florida :/ Scary. But, on the other hand, I’ve always been an adventure seeker and leaving everything and moving (literally!) across the world where I have an incredible opportunity to learn, grow and travel has my name written all over it.

I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish in my life and a big part of how I’ve been able to do what I have is that I haven’t been afraid to take risks. I believe when you get an opportunity you need to jump on it and ride it Zorro style into the sunset. No hesitation.

I also believe that things happen for a reason and in the power of manifesting things. I asked for this. And now it’s here, and I’m going for it. So once again, I’m hitting the road. What’s up next? Hotel scouting in the Caribbean and Mexico and a company retreat in Krabi, Thailand in July.

Here’s my vid  and more to come :)
